Don't Be Disappointed! On-line Shopping Tips

When shopping on-line this holiday season, keep in mind these few simple things to make your shopping experience an enjoyable one.

1. Read Customer Reviews

The best indication of a company's level of customer service and product quality is history. Look for customer reviews or forums to read before making a purchase. This will give you reliable accounts of other customers' experiences and let you know what you can expect from the company.

2. Customer Service Availability

Websites should present product and company information that an in-store representative would normally provide. A reputable company should have a contact number for you to call to speak with someone live. If you leave a phone message or send an email, a prompt reply the next business day indicates a customer focused company.

Contact Deb, Tanya, or Paul for MendMeShop Customer Care.

3. Clarify Shipping Timelines and Charges

When placing your order, ask about shipping options, the rates and when it will ship. If your purchase is time sensitive, order early and confirm expected arrival dates so you are not disappointed. Check to see if the shipment is insured against damage and be aware of extra charges you are responsible for (i.e. taxes, duties, handling fees, insurance) before making your purchase.

4. Return Policy

Even with reputable companies, there will be times when returns are necessary. Confirm you are allowed to return a product if it has been opened and if you will receive a full refund or a store credit. Clarify what the time restrictions are for returns and who pays for shipping. It is common for the customer to pay return shipping charges but beware of restocking fees! Companies have been known to sell inferior products and make money off restocking fees.

5. Keep Records of Your Purchases

Whether you order on-line or by phone, you should receive an order number and/or email confirmation. Printing the order confirmation page will provide you with the details you need if you have to track your order or dispute any charges. Check for the date, company name, phone number, order summary, costs, shipping information and order number. If you order by phone, be sure to record the representative's name and the information specified above.

6. Warranty Policy

Your purchased item may require follow up for warranty repairs or service. Check how long the company has been in business to ensure they will still be there when you need them. Confirm the length of the product warranty, whether it is a full or limited warranty, and get it in writing.
